Palo de Yaya is a band born in New York City created and produced by José “Pepito” Gómez, nominated for an American Grammy in 2018 with the Akokán Orchestra project. This time it comes to us with an authentic sound that presents the roots of Cuban music, the pure and rural son mixed with the African roots of South America, the romantic song and dance music mixed with the most traditional and authentic of its culture with a touch current.
This new production presents 9 songs and a list of musicians who are in the current music scene in New York Jhair Salas – percussion (Peru), Rudyck Vidal – Bass (Mexico), Roman la Jara – Guitar (Dominican Republic), Daniel Dominguez – Trumpet (Cuba) Mariela Valencia – guest singer (Peru), Marykarla Gómez – choirs (Cuba) all of them with a great career path contributed and were essential for the realization of the Project.
Palo de Yaya presents his style and his original music, something that has been brewing since 2008 when José “Pepito” Gómez arrived in New York, this Project was taking shape among the clubs of the Big Apple between download nights and dance schools, between the mix of different cultures and the desire to make a passion come true.
The Project was recorded between the studios East West (New Jersey), Nganga Recording Stuidos (Brooklyn) and Mercury Recording (New Jersey), the recording and editing were by José “Pepito” Gómez and the mixing and mastering were in charge of Edwin Lozano (Colombia) and Luis Well (Cuba)
The album features 7 original songs by José Pepito Gómez, one by the Spanish singer and songwriter Vanesa Martín and another by the Italian singer and songwriter Eros Ramazzotti. The arrangements were made by José Pepito Gómez, the arranger and bassist Daimar Calvario worked on the arrangement of the song 90 minutes and the guitarist Roman la Jara worked on the arrangement of the song Princesita de Amor, the general production was in charge of Guararey Entertainment.
